With a flash, Blaze was defeated, and Noob Saibot found he was no longer standing atop the ancient pyramid, but in the center of a darkened arena. From the shadows, a figure slowly emerged. It was Sub-Zero, the warrior Noob had been before being slain by Scorpion. Sub-Zero had come to regain control of their divided soul. The two clashed, but neither could best the other. In the end, what emerged was a being that was neither Noob Saibot nor Sub-Zero, but something new...

光とともにブレイズは倒され、ヌーブは自分がピラミッドの頂上ではなく、暗い闘技場の中央に立っていることに気が付いた。その影から、何かがゆっくりと姿を現す――サブ・ゼロ。過去にスコーピオンによって殺害され、ヌーブとなった闘士であった。サブ・ゼロは自らの意思を取り戻し、ヌーブと対峙する。二人は激しく衝突したが、どちらも相手を負かすことはできなかった。最終的にそこから姿を表したのは、ヌーブでもサブ・ゼロでもなく、まったく新しい別の「何か」であった……

疑問・感想・注釈

• 衝撃の展開。サブ・ゼロ（兄）とヌーブ・サイボットが分離してしまうとは……
• となると、ヌーブはサブ・ゼロがただ変貌しただけではなく、サブ・ゼロに何かが取り付いていた、と考えるのが自然だろうか。

Smoke's power lies in his nanobot technology. Microscopic machines course through his veins, constantly repairing and altering his being. But when infused with the power of Blaze, his nanobots took on a life of their own. Multiplying at an exponential rate, they were soon numerous enough to consume Edenia, transforming the entire realm into a mass of sentient grey material that calls itself Smoke.

スモークの力の源は、彼のナノロボット技術にある。微細な機会が絶えず彼の欠陥を巡り、常に彼を回復させ続けている。しかし、スモークにブレイズの力が注ぎ込まれたとき、彼のナノロボットはそれぞれに生命を引き込まれた。それは猛烈な勢いで増加していき、瞬く間にエデニアを覆い尽くしてしまった。変形を続けるそれら無数の意思を持った灰色の物体は、いつしか「スモーク」と呼ばれるようになった。

疑問・感想・注釈

• 簡単に言うなら、スモークが文字通りの「スモーク（煙）」となったということ。
• メルティブラッドの「タタリ」をモータルコンバット風に解釈すると、こういう形になるのかも知れない。
